Dutasteride has been shown to be an effective treatment for pattern hair loss in studies. It is a more potent DHT blocker compared to similar medications such as finasteride. This is because dutasteride is able to block all three types of isoenzymes that are responsible for the conversion of testosterone into DHT. 

Hair vitamins may be effective according to studies. Results were seen in most studies after periods of 6 and 12 months. Dutasteride may be more expensive than other DHT blockers like finasteride and harder to acquire since it is only approved as a hair loss treatment in Japan and South Korea.
